Breakout Boards are a simple way of using components in a modular way. They consist of a component attached onto a small circuit board broken out to pads, pins, connectors or fly-lead. On some Breakout Boards you will find a few extra components that provide functions like short circuit protection or even power smoothing caps.

Breakout Boards allow easy access to densely-spaced pins on a microchip. They may also convert pin configurations to more standard configurations so generic connectors can be used.
