The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or IEEE (read eye-triple-e) is an international non-profit, professional organization for the advancement of technology related to electricity. It has the most members of any technical professional organization in the world, with more than 395,000 members in around 150 countries.


IEEE both creates and maintains a wide range of international standards for industrial electrical practices. Many IEEE standards form the basis for local standards due to the high quality of the standards.
