JPEG or JPG is an extension/protocol used for images. Often pronounced J-PEG, it uses a compression algorithm that can be adjusted by the creator of the image to attain the wanted quality of image. But like most things in life one must compromise between the image quality and the images size. The more the quality the bigger the image size and vice versa.
