Lead spacing refers to the distance between pins on a component package or connector. The original integrated circuit packages used a lead spacing of 0.1 inches (2.54 mm). But increasing complexity and progress in miniaturization of integrated circuits has decreased lead spacing to dimensions as small as 0.4 mm for the VSOP package.
