NTLDR or 'NT Loader' is the Bootloader of Microsoft's Windows NT Based Operating Systems upto and including Windows XP. NTLDR is typically run from the primary harddrive. The bootloader requires only three files to run:-

  • NTLDR - The Bootloader itself
  • boot.ini - The file that contains information to configure the boot menu
  • ntdetect.com - The file need if an NT-Based OS is to be booted
