Potting is a way of Waterproofing_Electronics or making something electrically insulated by covering it with an epoxy potting compound. This is usually achieved by placing the item to be potted in a plastic shell that holds the liquid epoxy as it cures. The example below shows a remote releasable instrument carrier for marine mammal research that was made waterproof with this technique using a clear marine epoxy and a polycarbonate shell.
