ROM (Read-only Memory) is an electronic storage medium that is typically characterized by an inability to modify the memory. This is a form of non-volatile memory, meaning it does not require a constant electrical signal to maintain its memory. While this type of memory was popular in the bast, developments in creating affordable, rewritable non-volatile memory combined with the development prospects of dynamic firmware updates has largely diminished the popularity of ROM chips.
