Through-hole

The term 'Through-hole' describes the collection of components that needs to go through the PCB during installation.
Through-hole components are widely used in hobby project due to their size. Compared to surface-mount-devices (SMD), the though-hole components are usually made with pins with 0.1" spacing (2.54mm). Breadboards also use this spacing between holes, so though-hole components fit very well into breadboards
