A Transistor is a semiconductor that is used for amplification of signals because it is an electronic switch. They come in many forms like the TCRT1000 a photo transistor, the 2n3904 which is an NPN trasistor, the 2N3906 which is a PNP transistor. They also come in Darlington pairs and various other packages.
